Origin Story

Founder and President John Gurski coded the project analysis tool using Excel while working at a San Diego-based solar development firm.

Energy Toolbase Was Founded

After 18 months of development, ETB launches as a solar economic analysis tool and debuts its modeling capabilities at the Intersolar North American Conference.

Pason Power Was Founded

Pason Power was formed after being spun out of Pason Systems Inc., with a 4-member team that launched the first version of its energy management system.

ETB Releases Energy Storage Modeling

Energy Toolbase releases its energy storage modeling capabilities which enabled users to model and optimize the economics of both residential and commercial ESS projects.

First Full-Scope ESS Integrations Launched

Pason Power fully integrates its EMS with two ESS hardware providers: Chint Power Systems (CPS) and Eguana Technologies.

Energy Toolbase And Pason Power Merge

ETB and Pason Power join forces to provide a cohesive suite of project modeling, storage control, and asset monitoring products for developers to deploy projects more efficiently.

One Cohesive Brand Is Formed

Energy Toolbase and Pason Power unify under the Energy Toolbase brand name. Work commences on merging the combined products into one full product suite.

Monitoring Platform Launches

ETB Monitor launches, providing developers with a software platform for monitoring the real-time performance and savings of solar + storage projects that is directly connected to ETB’s modeling and control software.

Fleet Of EMS Deployments Grows

Acumen EMS™ is contracted and deployed in 4 countries, with more than 90 sites, 60 MWh of ESS capacity, and rapidly expanding worldwide.

Pioneering Energy Optimization

ETB Developer became the first software industry to enable the co-optimization of grid services and utility bill savings, empowering solar and energy storage projects to maximize value across multiple revenue streams.

Seamless Solar Design Integration

ETB Developer integrated with leading solar design software, delivering seamless, faster, and more cost-effective solutions for commercial and industrial (C&I) and community-scale solar projects with enhanced accuracy.

ETB Controller Rebrand Unveiled

Energy Toolbase rebrands its energy management system, Acumen EMS, to ETB Controller, aligning it with the company’s suite of software products and it’s core function; control.

ETB Controller Continues to Expand

ETB Controller has grown into a global energy management system provider, with over 150 sites contracted or deployed and more than 100 megawatt-hours of capacity across the United States, Canada, Mexico, South America, and beyond.
